Ben’s mastering experience and passion for independent music has attracted artists that are after a special edge to their sound. His specialities include Indie/Dance, Folk, Alt-Country, Electronic, Dub and Hip-hop. He has mastered releases for artists such as Rüfüs (“Blue EP”), Deepchild, Ngairre, Willow Beats, The Kite String Tangle and Dustin Tebbutt, Miami Horror, Fanny Lumsden, Tuka and 360.

Ben has also worked closely with the Australian record label Future Classic since its humble beginnings in 2005, propelling Australian artists including Hayden James, New Navy, Flight Facilities, Flume and Mitzi to international acclaim.

Ben has mastered remixes featuring international artists Aril Brikha, Putsch 79, Matthew Herbert, Roots Manuva, Jazzanova and Soul Clap, and electronic music that has been released on top Berlin labels Get Physical, Stil Vor Talent and Traum.

Starting out his career at our original 301 Castlereagh Street studios, Ben then moved onto Sonamax mastering in Glebe for five years, and returned to 301 in 2011. His audio journey began in music post production, then audio lecturing at SAE, and he continues to work as a technician for the broadcast industry.  Ben uses some of his own customised mastering equipment that is a modern take on vintage circuits, helping to create a detailed, open sound whilst still retaining the magic of tubes and transformers.
