“NICK DIDIA IS A GENIUS” John (JC) Collins – POWDERFINGER

Nick DiDia has worked on seminal albums for artists such as Rage Against The Machine, Pearl Jam and Stone Temple Pilots. His collective work has resulted in over 35 million record sales and multiple Grammy and ARIA awards and nominations. Relocating from the US to work at Studios 301, he is based in Byron Bay but frequently works in 301 Sydney.

Whilst in the US, Nick made a strong bond with Australian artists and produced four No. 1 albums for Powderfinger, ensuring them as one of the most successful Australian rock bands in Australian history.  Since moving over to Studios 301, he has worked on a number of ARIA award-winning albums including Karnivool’s Asymmetry and more recently, took Kasey Chambers back to her alt-country roots with Bittersweet. He recently recorded and mixed the latest single “Wake Up” by The Medics. Released on Australia Day, the song was premiered by Richard Kingsmill on 2015.

He has worked with post-rock outfit sleepmakeswaves, whose album Love of Cartography was nominated for an ARIA Award for ‘Best Hard Rocky/Heavy Metal Album’, a J Award for triple j’s ‘Australian Album of the Year’ and an AIR Award for ‘Best Heavy Album’. The band said of the recording, “We got to make the record of our dreams in the way we wanted.” DiDia also mixed Bonjah’s new single “Evolution” with its “raw power, falsetto brilliance and sees Bonjah exploring their musical pallet sonically,” according to Tone Deaf.

In 2013, Bruce Springsteen popped into the studio to work with Nick DiDia as they have a history of working together in the US. Whilst in Australia, Springsteen recorded the first two singles from his recent album High Hopes that went No. 1 in 18 countries.
